Meet your gippsland family photographer
hello darling!
Iβm Amy. Former high school Photography Captain, certified egg-hater and married to a bloke who hates having his photo taken.
Gippsland born and raised, if youβre looking for a photographer who loves a laugh and welcomes chaotic, love-filled families and couples, youβve found me!
Iβve always been the designated photo taker.
Anyone that knows me knows I have always loved photography. I was the girl at the pub a Uni night with my girlfriends, a sony cyber-shot hanging from my arm. Itβs safe to say I have been a sucker for attempting to preserve the most special of moments, as well as the most ordinary of moments for as long as I can remember. I just didnβt know then that it would turn out to be my dream job.
But before I picked up the camera as Oh Darling Photography, I was a Critical Care Nurse. Thereβs a version of me that still misses it, and Iβll always be fascinated by the human body and wellness.
But when I went on maternity leave for the first time, I found myself drawn once again to my camera and made the transition from hobby to the real deal.
When Iβm not taking photos, Iβm very likely to be knee deep in family life. My husband Jack (who hates photos, ironic), our three kids and our gorgeous Hungarian Vizsla Mila (aka my fourth child) are my everything. Most of what I know about photographing families, I learned from trying to get a decent shot of my own.
And while Iβm honestly not an overly emotional person (just ask my sister!), my family is the exception. They just make my heart explode, and when I get to spend time taking photos of you and loved ones, itβs exactly the same.
Captured by We Be Golden PhotographyOne thing about me is I really want to be a Type A person, but I have a LOT of underlying Type B traits. Also I much prefer savoury over sweet, red wine is my kryptonite and donβt get my started on a good conspiracy theory (or do, if theyβre your jam!) Iβm a little ashamed to say I'll watch a reality tv over almost anything else., and every so often a song comes on and completely wrecks me for no reason I can explain.
Captured by We Be Golden PhotographyI don't know about you, but everytime I put my kids to bed, or catch myself staring at them, my heart drops as I just can't believe they are changing in front of my eyes. It feels like only yesterday, but at the same time so long ago, I was rocking them to sleep or trying to catch their first steps on camera.
We celebrate the wins, and the new skills, the sporting game firsts, and dance concerts, but the reality of them leaving a small piece of their tiny baby bodies behind each day makes my mum-heart sad.
I bought my big girl camera originally to simply attempt to capture every tiny detail of my kids childhood as I felt my memory has never been good. And of course, all the newborn, baby, little toddler crawls already feels so blurry and a faint memory.
all that to say, I really, really love what I do
Captured by RO. ImageEvery session ends up feeling like I've spent an hour with old friends, not clients. Kids get goofy (and so do I), conversation just goes wherever it goes, and somewhere in there I get to photograph what your version of love actually looks like in this season.
That part never gets old.

sound like we might be a perfect match?
I'd love to hear about your family, your season, your Tuesday. Send me a message and let's sort out the details.
